March 19th, 1948. J. Ray Weir, son of a furniture merchant and known as “Ray” to family and friends, opened the first Weir’s Furniture Company in a modest 20-by-70-foot storefront on Knox Street. Today the company has grown to include four locations, over 300 associates and continues to practice Ray’s foundational belief—“put God first in everything you do; treat each other with kindness, courtesy, patience, and compassion; speak the truth and be honest even when it may cost us.”

Pierce Furniture began operations in 1993 under the name Warehouse Furniture. Duane Pierce, the founder, spent his entire professional life in the furniture industry prior to opening the company's first retail store on Butternut Street in Abilene Texas. He saw a need in the Abilene market for a true discount furniture store. He used his many years of experience to put together a store that offered products that people needed at affordable prices. The original slogan that is still used today is "We'll Save You Money". The small company enjoyed remarkable success over the first few years selling out of a store with less that 5000 square feet of retail floor space. Duane and his son Joe built the business from this single store to multiple stores in the Abilene area and then began expanding into other West Texas communities. As the company grew the name was changed to Gallery Warehouse to reflect the stores larger and more diverse selection. As a part of the expansion over the years Pierce Furniture purchased existing stores.
Joe and Ruth Burks, grandparents of store owner Charles Bailey, founded Bailey’s Furniture over 50 years ago. The company initially began as an antique furniture store in the Dallas area. Over the years, Bailey’s Furniture has extended its product line to include contemporary and traditional lines of furniture in addition to accessories for all areas of the home and office. To cater to the increasing desires of customers’ needs, Bailey’s Furniture has incorporated design services into its home furniture store offerings.
